Robyn Walker - Registered Teacher

Kia ora, my name is Robyn Walker

I have been a teacher here at Preschool since 2005 and I hold a diploma in Teaching and Learning (Early Childhood).

I was born in Blenheim on a high-country sheep and cattle station which is where my love of animals and nature began. Previous to returning to NZ a the end of 2004 with my daughter, India Rose, I spent almost 30 years travelling, living and experiencing so many different cultures, as well as working on enviromental, humanitarian and wildlife conservation projects, which lead me into teaching, particularly early childhood. What better way to creative positive change than from grassroots level? I believe that all tamariki are capable and competent of influencing and creating change. The small ripples we create in early child spread ever outwards and we are nurturing the kaitiaki/care takers of the future.

I lead our Enviroschools program and have done so since we first became an Enviroschool in 2008 and I am incredibly proud of the progress we have make on our journey. It is very much a team effort involving our whole community and beyond.

I have a passion for education and leaning and believe that it is a lifelong adventure instilled with joy and a sense of wonder as we teach and learn with our beautiful tamariki.

Hannah Armstrong - Registered Teacher

Kia Ora my name is Hannah Armstrong.

I live in Akaroa with my husband Fransisco and our 2 daughters. I was born in Akaroa and grew up on my parent’s farm in Stoney Bay. I spent many years aways studying (a Bachelor of Arts from Otago University and a Graduate Diploma in ECE from Auckland University), having great travel adventures around the world and working in a diverse array of jobs both here and abroad before returning to the Peninsula 11 years ago!

I have been teaching early childhood education on the Peninsula since then both through my work at Banks Peninsula Early Learning (in its present and past form!) and Akaroa Playcenter. I feel very interested in this community and love being part of a team which believes in nurturing the well-being and holistic development of our tamariki and creating strong links with our local whanau and our beautiful local environment.
